Algonquin Reflections
Hello I am Mani White. I am a "forty something" Mother and Grandmother. The love of my life (Redhawk) and I,live in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. We are both originally from The West. ( South Dakota and Washington State.) After years of living in urban America, the mountains of our youth called us "home." We were fortunate to re-locate in a rural community where life is slow paced . Where we are surrounded by nature's gifts and beauty.
My passions in life include: Beading, sewing, gardening and Traditional Native American music.
I love to dance, and I am learning to drum and play the flute.
Redhawk is a talented photographer much of his portfolio includes shots taken near our home. I have included several to share the serenity of this place with you.
Redhawk and I are beaders. Winter often finds us working on beading projects. CLICK here to see some of our work. (Coming Soon)
Summer often finds me in my garden where two of my favorite creatures abound, Butterflies and Humming- birds. Many of the plants I have in my garden were planted especially for them. (Pictures Coming Soon!)
Our community is filled with talented artists. This past summer, ( 2001 ) we were fortunate to be invited to share in a local festival showcasing a number of local artists, " Wells Fest". Hosted by Singer /Songwriter; Tim Santiago.
I would be remiss not to mention our five children and nine Grandchildren. Unfortunately we live many miles form them all. So as you might imagine, shared times with them are indeed celebrations. Redhawk's favorite human photo subjects :o)
I have devoted a special page to my daughter Angie who's son "Tushka Homma Alla" (Little Red Warrior)who passed over into the Spirit World.
It is my belief our children are our greatest resource. Oral Stories were shared by my people for centuries as both entertainment and teaching. Handed down generation to generation. It was with this in mind that I began writing stories to tell my own Grandchildren. Honor Blanket is a gift from my heart to my Granddaughter Elizabeth Heart Song.
Throughout the year, we gather with family and friends...some from as far off as Australia....
As you can see, this site is a work in progress so please come back often and see the changes.
